With many online posts online about 2025 Quarterback rankings still having Minnesota listed with Zach Pyron as Minnesota’s starter, and him ranked dead last in the Big Ten, I decided to create my own QB rankings based on loose metrics.
If the QB was a starter before, you get 5 points. If the QB was kind of the starter, like maybe for 2-3 games, they get 2 points.
If the QB is with the same team as last year (played or not) you get 5 points. This would give you value because we’re going to assume you had time to adequately learn the offense. (Cultural sustainability!)
I then took the offensive firepower of the team. If the QB is on a good offense, they will probably do well. Example would be, Ohio State will score points no matter who their QB is, so whoever ends up winning the starting job there will probably do well, even if they don’t meet that programs standards. (Kyle McCord). These numbers are based off Team passing TD and yardage in 2024 and assigned a value.
After assembling those metrics and adding them up, in 18th place was Underwood at Michigan. Realizing I am missing something, (or would get a lot of heat that the top rated QB of the class couldn’t be the worst, I added a metric for being a big name / high rated recruit. (Or blue-blood level recruit points). The QB gets 5 if they were originally recruited by a blueblood. You get one point if you were recruited by an FCS school, group of 5 team or Minnesota (Sorry Drake and Athan).
